2007 The
following changes in our Partnership take effect from 1 May 2007. David
Fielding is retiring as a partner in the firm.
David joined the firm as an ‘articled clerk’ after graduating
from Oxford University in 1972. He
has spent the whole of his working life with the firm and we shall be very
sorry to lose him. We wish him a long and happy retirement. Suzanne Lomax and Adam Thom who have been Associates of the firm for the last four years, are appointed as Partners.
Both
are Chartered Accountants who trained in ‘Big Four’ practices and who
joined Waterworths in 1995 and 1994 respectively. Simon Davies has also joined the firm as Practice Manager. This is a new role which will relieve the Partners of some of their office duties, enabling them to focus on client matters as the firm expands. Simon is a Chartered Accountant and will deal primarily with financial administration and regulatory matters. |

It
was in 1881 that Thomas Waterworth began practising as a member of the
newly formed Institute of Chartered Accountants. His annual membership
certificate, for 1884, is on display at our offices, together with the
membership certificate of his son, Thomas, who qualified in 1922. Our
story might well have ended in 1905 when Thomas died from pneumonia at the
age of 42, but under the stewardship of the redoubtable Mrs Waterworth and
family friend, Edward Rudd, the firm continued until Thomas’s son, Guy,
was old enough to join. In
1911, along with William Hare (senior), the partnership of Waterworth Rudd
and Hare was formed and the firm continued to practise under this name for
the next eighty-five years, becoming Waterworths in 1996. |
