Meet The Team

Alan Rowntree (Partner - Personal wealth and Corporate Finance. Consulting Partner on audit related matters)

Educated at Sedbergh School, Alan Rowntree entered into articles in 1965 with a Blackburn firm of Chartered Accountants and qualified in 1969. He joined Waterworths in 1972 and was admitted to the partnership in 1974.

Whilst Alan retains some major audit clients, his particular interests now lie in advising substantial family companies and their shareholders on the financial and taxation aspects of their affairs.


Leslie Bury (Partner – Business Advisor. Consulting Partner on audit related matters)

Leslie Bury joined the partnership in 2001 having previously been a partner in Bury Brothers and HLB Kidsons.

Leslie specialises in providing business advisory services, including strategic planning, acquisitions and disposals, and is an acknowledged specialist in the setting up and using of trusts and other tax planning products.

Bury

Peter Bridge (Business Services Contact Partner)

Having been educated at Chorley Grammar School and Nottingham University, Peter Bridge qualified at the Manchester offices of Coopers and Lybrand (Now PricewaterhouseCoopers) in 1975.

Following a period as a tax specialist with the Manchester office of Deloitte Haskins and Sells he joined Waterworths in 1977 and became a partner in 1980.

As well as maintaining a broad portfolio of clients, Peter specialises in general business consultancy and advises on Information Technology matters.


Bridge

Graham Wilson (Corporate Services Contact Partner)

Educated at The Grammar School, Bexhill-on-sea, Sussex, Graham Wilson subsequently obtained a degree in Accountancy at Manchester University. In 1976 he joined the Manchester office of Deloitte Haskins and Sells (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and in 1981, soon after qualifying, he joined Waterworths as an audit specialist.

Graham was admitted into the partnership in 1986. He continues to be the contact partner for many of the firm's larger audit clients. In recent years he has specialised in investigation and “due diligence” work and general business consultancy.

Bill Campbell (Tax Partner)

Bill qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1980, became an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1983, and has specialised in taxation ever since.

Bill became a partner on 1st May 2003. Prior to that, he spent twenty-one years with HLB Kidsons in Manchester where he was involved in all aspects of taxation, becoming Director of Taxation in 1999.

He has lectured on various taxation matters and for several years wrote a regular tax column in the local press.


Suzanne Lomax (Partner - Corporate Services)

Suzanne qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 whilst working for KPMG. She remained as a manager with KPMG until joining Waterworths in 1990. Suzanne specialises in the areas of audit, financial reporting and providing general advisory services to owner-managed businesses.

 

 


Adam Thom (Partner - Corporate Services)

Adam joined Waterworths in 1994 having spent five years working for Coopers and Lybrand in their Sheffield office. Adam has a degree in Accounting, Financial Management and Mathematics from Sheffield University and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992.  

Adam specialises in the audit, accounting and taxation needs of limited companies, charities and pension schemes.

 


Sonya Jolly (Business Services Manager)

Born in Preston, Sonya studied A-levels at Runshaw College and has an HND in Business and Finance from Blackburn College. She trained as an accountant at a small local practice, qualifying as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2000. Sonya has always worked in a general practice environment and has experience in financial aspects of small owner-managed businesses. She is also an expert user of Sage accounting software.

Sonya joined Waterworths in 2007 as a manager in the Business Services Department.


Simon Davies (Practice Manager)

Having obtained a degree in Accounting and Finance from Lancaster University, Simon trained with an independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Preston where he qualified as both a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Simon moved into Practice Management in 2000 with a firm of Solicitors in Bolton and joined Waterworths in a similar role in 2007.
